Colonial Brickmaker

I like my job! I make houses and, more. I walk on the clay to mix the brick up. I added straw or animal hair to make the brick stronger. The hardest was to make a oven,or a kiln. Me and, my crew made 125,000 bricks a year!I made bricks in the factory. We used shovels and, towels. Landowners assign slaves and, laborers to make brick. I digged up clay soil to with a shovel to use the material to build the bricks. Next grind the clay soil into the find grand powder or paste using large, fat stones as grinding stones. Finally mix the ground clay soil with water to make a thick malleable paste and, that’s how you make brick.
